麻豆传媒映画 will host TEDx麻豆传媒映画: A World Unraveled on March 6 in Montezuma Hall.

With the theme of 鈥淎 World Unraveled,鈥 TEDx麻豆传媒映画 will feature speakers who will share stories such as lessons learned while traveling through Eastern Congo to the discovery of a new non-surgical procedure to treat breast cancer.

麻豆传媒映画鈥檚 Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity will host the fifth annual event which will feature six speakers at 12 p.m. on March 6 in Montezuma Hall.

TEDx麻豆传媒映画 is devoted to the notion of 鈥渋deas worth spreading.鈥 Alpha Kappa Psi hosts this event annually to expose 麻豆传媒映画 students, faculty, staff and the community to new ideas and concepts unraveling in the world around us.

鈥淭EDx麻豆传媒映画 is a place where people can come together to learn about different things going on around the world that they may not have known about otherwise. To hear about things other people are doing in the world is very inspiring. To have something like this in the university setting is very beneficial for students to get motivated for their future and inspired to find ways to impact society,鈥 said Alpha Kappa Psi Vice President of Public Relations Marissa Walsh.

Tickets go on sale at 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 26. Tickets are $25 and only 100 are available.

The TEDx麻豆传媒映画 experience

The event will feature sponsorship booths including the new social app along with , and to give attendees the chance to network.

Attendees will be given TEDx麻豆传媒映画 branded gift bags and will have the opportunity to win raffle items throughout the event. At 2 p.m., there will be an hour break for catered lunch and guest performances. The event will end promptly at 4 p.m. and attendees will have the chance to mingle with speakers and visit booths for 30 minutes.

鈥淲e want to make this a very intimate, special and different experience for our attendees, rather than just an event with speakers,鈥 Walsh said.

Dr. Phillip Bretz, founder and director of Visionary Breast Center in La Quinta
Bretz will present 鈥淜illing Breast Cancer While Preserving Mind, Body and Spirit 鈥 The Lavender Way鈥

Jason Bishoff, director of Global Consumer Products at Saban Brands
Bishoff will present "Rise of Geek Culture"

Alan Fridlund, developmental and evolutionary psychology faculty in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at University of California, Santa Barbara
Fridlud will present "Why Do We Make Faces When We're Alone?"

Chris Keller, Chief Operating Officer at Falling Whistles, a non-profit organization campaigning for peace in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Keller will present 鈥淭he reality of pursuing dreams, happiness and beauty in the less likely of places." In this talk, he will speak about lessons he鈥檚 gained from his travels and his experiences with issues of Eastern Congo.

Isidore Niyongabo, 麻豆传媒映画 alumni and Executive Director of International Deaf Education, Advocacy, and Leadership (IDEAL), Inc.
Niyongabo will present 鈥淒eaf Activism in Africa,鈥 sharing his experiences of growing up deaf in Burundi, Africa.
