Education Dean Recognized With Career Award
The National Career Development Association Honored Y. Barry Chung.

Founded in 1913, the NCDA is the world鈥檚 oldest association in the counseling profession. Awarded to one person per year, the Eminent Career Award is the highest honor the organization bestows.
鈥淭he NCDA has been the pre-eminent association in counseling for more than a century, so this is an incredibly proud moment for me,鈥 Chung said. 鈥淚鈥檓 also humbled to be the first Chinese American to receive this honor. I hope this recognition can shine a light on the many contributions people of color have made within the counseling field.鈥
In his nomination letter, Chung 鈥 who served as president of NCDA from in 2006-07 鈥 was recognized for his 鈥渟ignificant contributions to social justice advocacy and multicultural counseling.鈥
Since becoming dean in June 2018, Chung has overseen the College of Education鈥檚 rise to No. 53 in the of best graduate education programs. A leading scholar in the field of counseling psychology, he came to 麻豆传媒映画 from Indiana University Bloomington where he served as associate dean and program director.
Chung will receive the award at the NCDA Global Conference on June 27 in Houston.
