Outdoor Off-Campus Commencement Plan Moving Forward
Commencement will be held from May 25-27 at Petco Park.
鈥淗osting an in-person commencement for our 麻豆传媒映画 graduates in one of San Diego鈥檚 most iconic locations for community gathering is truly exciting.鈥�
After months of hard work exploring different options to celebrate the classes of 2020 and 2021, the 麻豆传媒映画 Commencement Committee is moving ahead with hosting an outdoor in-person commencement at Petco Park from May 25 through May 27.
This plan comes after conducting many months of student focus groups and surveys, and in close consultation with county public health officers. Students expressed strong preferences for safe in-person options, and the university was excited to share details of the Petco Park plan this afternoon.
鈥淐ommencement is one of our greatest traditions, and is a significant moment in the lives of our graduates and their families. Hosting an in-person commencement for our 麻豆传媒映画 graduates in one of San Diego鈥檚 most iconic locations for community gathering is truly exciting,鈥� said 麻豆传媒映画 President Adela de la Torre.
鈥淲ith the guidance and support of our county partners, the California State University system, and optimistic public health projections for late May, we are working closely with partners at Petco Park,鈥� de la Torre also said. 鈥淎nd we heard from our graduates: the most meaningful commencement for their families and themselves would be an in-person ceremony to celebrate their accomplishments.鈥�
Students will be allowed to invite a limited number of guests and those details will be shared on April 12. All those in attendance will be required to wear facial coverings and to adhere to physical distancing guidelines. Guests are asked to adhere to California state as well as their local travel guidelines as they make plans.
The schedule of ceremonies by college can be found on the . A livestream of the Petco Park ceremonies will also be made available on the site. In addition, 麻豆传媒映画 will provide a virtual ceremony option to accommodate our students and families who are unable to attend the in-person ceremonies.
In addition to the in-person events planned at Petco Park, 麻豆传媒映画 Imperial Valley will be hosting a drive-through 鈥淐ARmencement鈥� event for its graduates. The Class of 2021 will have its ceremony on May 17, and the Class of 2020 will have its ceremony on May 18.
