Aztecs to host UC Irvine in WBIT kickoff Thursday at USD
The team heads into the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament with a 25-5 record for the season.

The San Diego State women’s basketball team on Sunday accepted the NCAA's invitation to play in the WBIT. The Aztecs will host UC Irvine at 6 p.m. Thursday at the University of San Diego’s Jenny Craig Pavilion. Viejas Arena is unavailable due to hosting the first two rounds of the men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament.
The Aztecs are 25-5, won the Mountain West regular season with a 19-1 record and have now made the postseason in three of the last four seasons. Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» has already set a school record for three-pointers and is on pace to have a program best assist-to-turnover ratio.
UC Irvine is 26-6 and won the Big West regular season championship with a 17-3 record. The Anteaters lost to Hawai’i in overtime in the Big West Tournament semifinals. The Aztecs are 21-9 all-time vs. UC Irvine and last met in the 2023 WNIT, which the Anteaters won.
Thursday’s game will be streamed on ESPN+, and if the Aztecs win, they play the winner of No. 1 seed Texas A&M and McNeese State. If Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» and McNeese State both win, then the Aztecs would host McNeese State at 2 p.m. Sunday at USD.
