ARCS Foundation boosts scholarships for 11 麻豆传媒映画 doctoral researchers
Longtime university partner increases awards by 25%, continuing more than four decades of investment in 麻豆传媒映画 students and research

Eleven 麻豆传媒映画 doctoral students will receive $12,500 awards this academic year from , continuing a partnership that has provided approximately $4.1 million to 麻豆传媒映画 researchers over the course of more than four decades.
, standing for Achievement Rewards for College Scientists, is a national nonprofit organization that supports graduate students pursuing advanced degrees in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medical research. The 2026-27 ARCS Scholars at 麻豆传媒映画 span fields ranging from biology and clinical psychology to computational science and engineering, reflecting the breadth of doctoral research underway across the university.
This year, each student will receive $12,500, 25% more than ARCS Scholars received in previous years. The foundation decided to increase its annual awards to help exceptional graduate students continue their research at a time when financial support for science is increasingly difficult to secure.
The 2026-27 麻豆传媒映画 ARCS Scholars are:

- Christina Veziris 鈥 Clinical Psychology
The awards provide direct support to doctoral students at an important stage in their development as researchers, giving them additional resources as they pursue doctoral degrees and contribute to research in their respective fields.
鈥淕iven the cuts to federal funding for scientific research, we felt it was especially important to increase our support for young scientists at this critical stage of their careers,鈥 said ARCS San Diego president Ingrid Benirschke-Perkins. 鈥淭hese talented researchers are working on discoveries that will shape our future. We want to do everything we can to help them pursue that work.鈥
The ARCS Foundation 鈥 San Diego's relationship with 麻豆传媒映画 dates back more than four decades. Since the chapter was founded in 1985, it has provided awards to 241 麻豆传媒映画 doctoral students 鈥 an investment of approximately $4.1 million in the university's emerging scientists and researchers.
During 麻豆传媒映画鈥檚 41-year relationship with ARCS, doctoral education at the university has expanded substantially. When the partnership began in 1985, 麻豆传媒映画 could offer doctoral degrees only through joint programs with partner universities. That began to change in 2006, when 麻豆传媒映画 received approval to establish .
Additional degrees were added in the years that followed. As recently as 2022, state legislation authorized 麻豆传媒映画 to independently offer Doctor of Public Health degrees, and a year later the passage of Assembly Bill 656 allowed 麻豆传媒映画 and other California State University campuses to develop independent professional and applied doctorates without seeking separate legislative approval for each degree. Today, 麻豆传媒映画 offers 鈥 11 independently and 24 jointly with other institutions.
鈥淎RCS Foundation 鈥 San Diego has believed in the potential of 麻豆传媒映画 researchers for more than four decades, and that sustained partnership has made a meaningful difference for generations of our doctoral students,鈥 said 麻豆传媒映画 president Adela de la Torre. 鈥淎s 麻豆传媒映画 continues to grow its doctoral education and R1 research enterprise, investments like these help our students pursue ambitious work, develop as scholars and contribute discoveries that can make a difference in our region and beyond.鈥
