Graduate Student Programs
Graduate students are unique in their academic experience and needs. International experiences at Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» look different at the graduate level, and the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Global Education Office is here to support you!
International experiences that often work well for graduate students include:
- Short winter or summer faculty-led Global Seminars - Ask your program's graduate advisor whether a particular course can be applied towards your degree.
- Search and apply within Aztecs Abroad (does not require Travel Registry or PAAR process)
- Independent research/fieldwork, conference participation, or grant-funded travel abroad
- Submit for approval by Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» in the Travel Registry.
- Please note that completing the Travel Registry is required in addition to the T2 process.
- If your travel is sponsored by an Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Research Foundation grant please make sure that you indicate that you are participating in grant-funded travel in the description of your experience.

- Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» exchange or partner programs - summer, winter, or semester; coursework available at the graduate level.
- Search within ; then complete the Advising Questionnaire and see a Global Education Advisor to open an application.
- Verify with your program's graduate advisor prior to departure that the course(s) can be applied towards your degree.
- must be initiated by meeting with your graduate advisor to discuss the proposed coursework and the degree requirements you hope to satisfy while abroad.
Funding for graduate students:
- Apply for the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Associated Students Global Education Scholarship and indicate your plans to study abroad on the Aztec Scholarships Portal. Information about both of these on the
- ³§¶Ù³§±«â€™s are an additional source of funding
- Graduate students at any stage in their program are eligible to apply for a Fulbright award for research or teaching abroad
Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Travel Abroad Insurance:
Do you need international insurance for participation in one of the activities above?
- YES. If you are participating in one of the activities above, you will find the link to purchase the Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Travel Abroad Insurance as a step in your Travel Registry process, or in your post-decision steps if you are participating in a program listed in Aztecs Abroad.
- Note: Â鶹´«Ã½Ó³» Travel Abroad insurance for transborder travel to Baja California, Mexico, is a separate policy that can be purchased for one day or for multiple one-day visits during a semester (without paying for a full semester of coverage). Transborder programs listed in Aztecs Abroad will automatically show this policy, but if you are completing the Travel Registry, please make sure to choose this option.
